Precentors Court & York Minster

York Minster | Precentors Court
During the last few hours of daylight the sun is low and creates some of the best light of the day. Shadows are long and contrast is very pleasing. This image of York Minster from Precentors Court I have done many times in the past, but this was a little different to what I normally do. The image was made up of 4 shots joined together seamlessly.
The problem with this shot is the wide angle you have to use to get the whole of the Minster in to the frame as well as a little sky, It also makes the minster look a little smaller than it actually is to the naked eye, so the perspective is all wrong. With a little longer focal length the perspective becomes more natural so I shot it at the longest focal length I had on my lens 40mm. Panning round the frame I made 4 shots and these were then aligned perfectly within photoshop. Its a technique that works very well when you cant get the whole scene in one shot and want to keep the perspective correct.
