Photography Tuition

Do you have a DSLR or bridge camera but get frustrated with the images it produces when comparing them to images in a magazine or online images. My workshop courses are focused on you mastering your camera  in simple easy steps. Do you rely on the "Green Auto" mode, want to know more about the "M" mode, how to make use of the histogram, master depth of field and use aperture creatively.

  • We go through composition , the use of rule of thirds and other composing techniques

  • We go through the use of Neutral Density filters which allow longer exposures in bright conditions.

  • Using  graduated neutral density filters to balance exposure where the scene has a broad dynamic range of light. Or taking two exposures, one for the sky and one for the foreground and blend the two together in post processing. and lastly how to use a piece of plain ordinary black card as a graduated filter.

  • WE also go through using polariser's and how they are used to reduce glare and increase saturation.

  • How to set white balance using grey cards and white cards as well as lens attachments I use to set white balance.

  • The use of the colour checker passport to get colours perfect every time.

We also take time out to process images in the comfort of my campervan and I will show you how easy it is to process a RAW file ready for print or posting on the internet.

All my equipment lenses, Lee filters, tripod, white balance cards light meters are all available to be used by you to create images on the day as well as my knowledge and experience.

Meeting before sunrise we have to work quickly to make the best of the morning light, we then slow things down a little throughout the day practising techniques of composition and camera settings. By the end of the day you will have more of an understanding of how I approach my way for Landscape Photography.

After the session I will provide further help with post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop over the internet. I use Team Viewer and Skype, both free to install on a pc or Mac. You can watch and listen to me live online as I go through my steps to process a picture. We can then go through the same steps on your image. I will always be on hand to offer my help if you  later require it.

A days personal tutorial is  £125 with reductions for smaller groups of up to 4 people. This is dependent on travel as my workshops are operated in the North York Moors and  its coast line. I am happy to travel to other locations and additional fuel cost will be kept to sensible rates.

If you like my style of photography I would be delighted to hear from you and I hope to share my knowledge with your passion to know more.
