The Kelpies Falkirk Scotland

Falkirk Kelpies Scotland
The Kelpies in Falkirk Scotland are a 30 meter high stainless steel cladded pair of statues figured on the Clydesdale horses, they were designed by Sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in 2013. The sculptures are the gateway entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal and stand in the grounds of the newly developed Helix Project.

I was lucky to have worked on this project my self for a couple of years during the manufacturing process so its a real pleasure to re-visit the site and photograph the Kelpies every time I am passing by.

This particular night I was passing through having been working near Elgin over the weekend so as I was heading home I just had a minor detour to see them for the first time illuminated at night. The night was a crisp February evening and the sunset during my drive down was stunning. As i arrived there was still some ambient light and nice detail in the sky, even the stars were captured in the exposure. Red was my favourite colour of the cycle and it contrasts so well with the blue hue's in the sky.
